New Delhi: The crowd at the Republican Day Parade on Wednesday was limited to only 5,000 people, all double masked, vaccinated and retained ‘Do Gaz Ki Doori’ which was strict considering the Covid-19 situation.
Only adults and children who are vaccinated double over the age of 15 who have taken at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine are permitted to enter the venue.
Children under 15 years are not permitted to attend.
Chairs are placed in the distance to ensure social distance.
Participants also received a white hat with ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ printed on it.
“I used to watch Republic Day every year on TV.
This year I visited a friend here and did not want to lose this opportunity to attend a historic parade that occurred in the 75th year of independence,” said Amrita Singh who traveled everything.

For Ashmit Parekh, it was the last chance to see the parade directly before moving abroad this year.
“I know there is Covid-19 but I want to see a parade once,” he said.
Asked whether he was afraid of the virus contract, Parekh said he doubled and took all the precautions.
“Honestly it’s much safer here with all the protocols in the place” IT professional said.
The annual ceremonial event in Rajpath used to watch a large crowded crowd in many age groups has been upgraded since last year considering the Coronavirus pandemic.
The size of the audience was drastically cut up to 5000 of this year from 25,000 years ago.
In the pre-pandemic period, more than one lakh audience used to watch the parade.
Shibani Kapoor, a 12th grade student, said the experience of seeing a parade directly was “extraordinary”.
“I’m glad I attended a parade.
The best part for me is leaflets, it’s very beautiful and noble,” he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the conclusion of the parade walked in Rajpath and waved on people and greeted them.
India is currently fighting against the third wave of Covid-19 driven by the Omicron variant.
