New Delhi: The Ministry of Health UNI on Thursday issued a revised Covid guideline on drug use, masks for children in the midst of scare omicron in this country.
This manner is dynamic, and will be reviewed and updated, the availability of new evidence, the ministry stated in the ‘revised comprehensive guidelines for the management of Covid-19 in children and adolescents (under 18 years)’.
“Data available from other countries show that diseases caused by omicron variants are less severe; However, there is a need for a careful watch, because the wave is currently developing,” he added.
The following are revised guidelines: the use of drugs or monoclonal antibodies is not recommended for children less than 18 years old, regardless of the severity of infection.
-Kording to guidelines, Covid-19 is a viral infection and antimicrobial does not have a role in the management of Covid-19 infection that is not complicated.
-For asymptomatic and lightweight cases, antimicrobials are not recommended for therapy or prophylaxis.
-For medium and severe cases, antimicrobials should not be prescribed unless there is a clinical suspicion of the infection that is left.
– In the case of septic shock, empirical antimicrobial, according to body weight, is often added to cover all possible pathogens based on clinical assessments, patient host factors, local epidemiology and hospital antimicrobial policies.
– Steroids are not indicated and dangerous in the case of asymptomatic and light covid-19.
-Self-steroid drugs must be avoided.
Masks are not recommended for children aged 5 years and under.
– Children aged 6-11 years may wear masks depending on the ability of children to use the mask safely and just under the direct supervision of parents / guardians.
– Children aged 12 years and over must wear a mask with the same conditions as adults.
– Make sure the hands are kept clean with soap and water, or rubbing alcohol-based hands, while handling the mask.
Post-covid care – Children with asymptomatic infections or mild diseases must accept routine childcare, appropriate vaccination (if qualified), nutritional counseling, and psychological support at follow-up.
– For children with moderate to severe Covid, while getting out of the hospital, parents / caregivers must be advised about monitoring for persistence / deteriorating breathing difficulties and explaining indications to bring children back to the facility.
– Children who develop any special organs dysfunction during hospital inap or then must receive proper care.
