WASHINGTON: The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends the use of masks in schools for everyone for two years, regardless of their vaccination status.
“AAP recommends universal masking because most of the student populations have not qualified for vaccines, and masking is proven to reduce viral transmission and to protect those who are not vaccinated,” said the agency in a statement on Monday
Happy! You have successfully thrown your votelogin to see schools schools will not have a system to monitor the status of student vaccines, teachers and staff, and some of the whole community has a low vaccination absorption where the virus can circulate clearerly, the Xinhua news agency quoted AAP’s statement said.
It calls to prioritize learning directly and urges all who are eligible to vaccinate to protect against Covid-19.
The development of Monday came for a week after the US center for controlling and prevention of disease (CDC) released a new guide urging schools to re-open in the fall regardless of whether all mitigation measures can be implemented.
In new guidance issued on July 9, CDC said that the teacher and vaccinated students do not need to use masks in the school building.
It also recommends the school to maintain at least 3 feet of physical distance between students in the classroom, combined with indoor masks used by people who are not fully vaccinated, to reduce the risk of transmission.
Schools throughout the US began to close in March 2020 because the Covid-19 pandemic holds and many students were shifted to online learning at home.
