Bhubaneswar: Bharatpur police here on Thursday arrested a man because of his alleged involvement in the murder of a woman recently near the Ruchika market.
The defendant was identified as a Cartik Jena (35) from Nayagarh Regency.
Sandhyarani Sethi (26), who also from Nayagarh, was found killed at his home on September 7 during an investigation, the police knew him along with Jena at home rent.
Even though Jena married in 2008, she had developed an extramarital affair with Sethi, a few months ago.
Jena, who works as a mason in Bhubaneswar, has looked after his wife and two small children in his village in Chadheibandha in Nayagarh.
Jena and Sethi took a rental house in the Bharatpur area a few weeks ago and had lived as a live-in partner.
The police said Sethi was a widow.
He had been looking for work in Bhubaneswar when he came into contact with Jena at the Baramunda bus stand.
Jena helped her get a job at the construction site where she got engaged as a mason.
The fisses appeared between Jena and Sethi when her wife suspected her husband’s illegal relationship with the deceased.
One day, Sethi asked Jena to leave his wife and stay with him.
The argument occurred between Sethi and Jena.
The woman called Jena’s wife and scolded him.
Sethi’s behavior was angry with Jena and she wanted to get rid of it, said the Deputy Commissioner of the Police of the Uma Shankar Dash.
Too late at night on September 3, Jena was allegedly strangling Sethi and left home by locking the door from the outside.
The murder arrived at light four days later.
