Mass cleaning drive marks world tourism days

Coimbatore: A group of students and stakeholders of the tourism industry removed waste disposed of around Piyakulam to commemorate World Tourism Day on Monday.
Drive cleaning is one of the events organized by Skal Club Coimbatore to mark the day.
As many as 150 people, including 100 students, participated in the drive, carried out to create awareness of disposal of responsible waste.
Coimbatore Corporation is doing work to change waterbodies in the city into attractive public places.
Corporate commissioner King Gopal Sunkara, who is a special guest on Drive Cleanliness, also pitched to clean the lake Bund.
More than 200kg waste collected from that place, the Skal source said.
The organization also conducted a blood donor camp, a journey of seeing for the poor and orphans, competition between universities and photo exhibitions on that occasion.

Overcoming the travel industry stakeholders, Sameran said more content needs to be made on coimbatore tourism on the internet to attract more people to the district.
“I want to find some details, but can’t find it even after googling! Short videos that show interesting places must be made and uploaded,” his advice.
“Tourism experiences take everywhere and high time for the tourism industry to focus on it.
People want to live somewhere and become familiar with the habits and local traditions instead of traveling a lot for the streets.
Covid-19 has been affecting the tourism industry and coimbatore is no exception.
