A PGT Mathematics from Rajasthan-based schools that adopt various innovative methods to make the learning of the subject of a pleasant activity has been chosen by the Ministry of Education for the National Award this year (NAT).
Achala Verma, a teacher at Birla Balika Vidyapeth, Pilani; Deepak Joshi, Teacher, Senior Government High School, Dandusar, Bikaner; And Jaisingh, a senior physical teacher in the Government Middle School, Devroad, Jhunjhunu, has been chosen for NAT 2021.
They will receive an award from President RAM Nath Kovind on Teacher’s Day, September 5.

“I also collaborated with school counselors to understand the needs of children to release their true potential,” Verma said, the third of her school to get NAT.
Born and raised in Hyderabad, Verma who began his teaching career in 1994 moved to Pilani in 1997.
“In addition to recognition, the award was inspiration for me and other teachers to continue working for holistic development of students, especially students who were slow,” Verma said who followed the footsteps of his father to become a teacher.
Responsibility at housing school
Being a teacher at a housing school increases the manifold responsibility for the students.
“In addition to helping students overcome the subject matter related problems, housing school teachers need to learn how to advise children, understand their emotional needs and learning skills and support them as guardians,” Verma said should work as a connecting between students and their parents.
He emphasized the importance of supporting students to deal with emotional aspects, providing constructive feedback and space for effective dialogue.
Achievements as teachers
For Verma, mentoring students to pursue mathematics and make them understand the importance of the subject is achievement.
“The teacher must encourage students to participate in competitions where they can express their knowledge and ideas, develop the confidence to present their work at workshops,” he said.
