Mathura E-Rickshaw Driver Gets RS 3.47CR Tax Notification

Agra: A 40-year-old e-Rickshaw driver in Mathura has received a notification from the Income Tax Department who directed him to pay RS 3.47 Crore tax for an annual turnover of Rs 43.44 Crore in the 2018-19 financial year.
Pratap Singh filed a complaint of the police on Sunday but no pine had not been registered so far.
Police Supervisors (SP), City, MP Singh told Tii that during the investigation, the police found Delhi-based companies registered against Pan Pratap Singh.
Further investigations are active and FIR will be registered based on the evidence collected during the investigation, SP said.
In his police complaint, Pratap Singh stated that someone might have stolen his identity because he didn’t even have a small portion of such a big turn.
“I have driven an e-rickshaw for the past four years and get Rs 400-500 a day, which is hardly enough to feed five family members, including our three children.
I can’t even think of a very big amount in my dreams,” said Singh who was surprised to TOI.
Singh said he had received a call from the income tax department on October 19 asked him to appear in their office.
“When I got there, they served me a tax notice of Rs 3.47 Crore,” he said in complaints.
When he told the I-T department officials about his work profile, they advised him to file a police complaint into this problem, because someone had taken the GST number on his name to run a business.
The annual change of business is Rs 43.44 Crore in 2018-19, and basis, the amount of RS 3.47 Crore tax was initiated against the PAN number given, registered in the name Pratap Singh.
Pratap, a resident of the village, said he needed a PAN card for banking purposes and therefore went to Jan Suvidha Kendra in March 2018 to get a PAN card.
He was told that he would get a card after a month.
When he didn’t accept it, he returned to contact the center.
Then, he received a photocopy of a colored card from a man named Sanjay Singh.
“I can’t distinguish between the actual PAN card and photocopy because I’m illiterate,” Pratap said in his complaint.
According to the assessment command issued by the Income Tax Department, “Information is received on the insight portal under the case of the high-risk no-filaris where it has been shown that the assessment reports RS 43.44 Crore’s turnover at GSTR-1.
However, the tax assessed is not submitted in ITR in the maturity date of ITR archiving.
“Thus, the notification below Section 142 (1), February 25, 2020, which requires ITR submission for the 2019-20 assessment is issued and presented on assessors.
Therefore, the supervision process below part 144 of the income tax law starts from the appraiser.
