Agra: The Ministry of Health has honed after 29 Rickettsiosis cases borne by mites, “Typhus scrub”, appeared during a primary investigation in Mathura on Sunday – the first for the district.
During laboratory testing, 29 patients aged two to 45 years were found positive.
Typhus scrub spreads to people through the bite of infected chiggers [larvae].
The most common symptoms include fever, headaches, body pain and sometimes rashes.
In severe cases, it can cause pneumonitis, encephalitis, mental change ranging from confusion to commas, congestive heart failure, and the collapse of blood circulation.
Additional Director of the Ministry of Health, Ak Singh, “At least 29 Typhus scrub cases have been reported in the district of Mathura.
The drugs needed have been given to patients and none of them are critical.
We have issued aware of the spread to other districts.” Singh added , “Early diagnosis is important.
Patients wear antibiotics and they fully recover after treatment for a week.”
