Chennai: Matrimony.com on Wednesday launched a new Vernacular match application called Jodii in Tamil for non-English masses.
The company said while online matchmaking had seen an increase in adoption, today’s match model has a language barrier and the complexity of the product so that it is less accessible to people from all walks of life.
“The purpose behind the new application is to open an online matchmaking to a larger part of the Tamil population and we feel more complete as a company today with this,” Murugavel Janakiran, said Founder, Matrimony.com.
“We also empower women to make decisions that can affect their lives,” he added.
The company said there were more than 53 million internet users in Tamil Nadu and cellular internet penetration have helped the growth of the first cellular internet users from small cities throughout the state.
Currently non-English populations, which are largely dependent on how married that are not organized between their circles and communities.
Among its main features, Jodii applications are easy to use and find basic information for registration.
It offers privacy and security while looking for their suitable living partners, female members have the choice to hide their photos and show it just to match what they like.
Free registration and prices for paid packages are only a quarter of the price of the matrimony.com platform for RS 900 for three months and 1,500 Rs for six months.
While the application was first launched in Tamil, the company hopes to learn from this and will see launch in various regional languages in the future, the company said.
