Silverstone (UK): World Championship Leader Max Verstappen won the Prime Formula One Sprint race on Saturday to take a pole position for the British Grand Prix.
The Red Bull driver completed a 100km dash ahead of defending champions Lewis Hamilton with Valtteri Bottas in the second Mercedes in third place.
Verstappen went to the weekend by leading 32 points over the seventh champion Hamilton who hoped to arrest the Grand Prix Triumph of England eighth on Sunday.
Saturday’s Sprint Race was the first of the three planned for this year with the Italian Grand Prix in September and another race to be confirmed.
