Ranchi: Mayor and City Council members have objected to the advocacy given by Advocacy General at the daily functions of the City Body saying they will move the Jharkhand High Courcs because of its advice in direct conflict with Jharkhand Municipality Act, 2011.
Overcoming news conferences from his office, mayor Ranchi Asha Lakra, who was accompanied by Hazaribag Mayor Roshni Tirkey, Chair of Ramgarh and Chatra Municipal Council Yogesh Bediya and Gunja Devi, among others, said this suggestion would harass all the urban local bodies ruled by BJP.

However, I along with all other ULB heads, will continue to follow the laws of the city and will challenge his opinion on The Jharkhand High Court.
“Lakra, who brought a copy of the Jharkhand Municipality Law during a press conference, cited the provisions below 54.75.76.77, 78 and 87 of the Act and said that all opinions by the state-general advocate was completely unfounded because he only quoted the provisions in accordance with the provisions state government.
“It was very sad to see that the JMM-led Hemant Government was trying to arm selected representatives and reduce their strength as part of their political vendetta.
However, I have been chosen by these city people who are far greater than the constituency of CM Hemant Soren representing me It won’t be an exhibition and allows officers to do what they like, “said Lakra.
Advocate General in his advice on the legal Secretary of the Principal, the Jharkhand Government, has suggested that according to the city Law, a regular meeting must be held by the Secretary of the City (Commissioner of the City) with a previous 72 hours notice that contains a list of businesses for all members of the Board / Chairman / Chief.
However, according to the provisions of Part 74 of the Jharkhand Municipality Act 2011, the city agency must hold a council meeting at least a month and the mayor / chairman has the right to call it in accordance with their wisdom or on the fifth written request of the total board members.
Lakra also accused officials carrying out employment within the city limits without the previous agreement of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) that was entirely illegal and being carried out to help some elected people.
“RMC officials have gone ahead and do work within the city limits without council approval which is a compulsory process.
But because they have not received approval now they find it difficult to pay to people who have done work,” added Lakra.
