MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday told Madras High Court that the three suggestions provided by the temporary arrangement center to accommodate 150 MBBS students at AIIMS Madurai must be examined by the Institute’s body which tends to meet on July 16.
At the counter, the health secretary also states that the state government will examine proposals imposed, based on the results of the meeting.
Regarding the start of the concise department (OPD) service on the temporary campus, detailed reports will be completed and the next level meeting will be held on July 16.
It is estimated that this problem will also be discussed in the Institute’s body meeting.
The justice division bench T Sivagnanam and Justice S Ananthi said in the light of the stand taken by the state, the court was postponed hearing in this case until July 26 and directed the country to submit a status report in this matter.
During the previous hearing, the Secretary of the Association of the Ministry of Health and family welfare in Affidavit had stated that they were interested in the initial service AIIMS Madurai experienced alternative space availability to start MBBS classes and OPD services.
The court has asked the state health secretary to consider the attitude taken by the center as a positive request or a sharp willingness to provide OPD services and to start the MBBS class and request a response in this matter.
The court was hearing litigation of the public interest submitted by K Pushpavanam, a law student in Madurai Regency, tried to establish a temporary campus for AIIMS Madurai to provide OPD services and to start the MBBS course, similar to those provided in other AIIM in this country.
On July 1, Minister of Health MA Subramanian while talking to media people in Chennai, stated that the country was uncomfortable with three choices that had been given the center to accommodate the first collection of students in Madurai Aiims itself.
He stated that the center, in a letter dated June 4, has three options – to send students to Jawaharlal institutions the government of education and medical research on the Puducherry or Country can enable students to study in medical colleges / government art in Madurai or to allow Acceptance at one of the self-financing medical colleges in Madurai.
