MC proposes to produce 10MW energy from the Tajpur Waste Dump

Ludhiana: For waste disposal lying in the Tajpur road dump and the garbage collected every day, the Civic body finally prepares a detailed project report (DPR) which will be submitted to the local body department for approval.
Civil authority plans to implement the Okhla model in the city, which imagines that energy can be produced from waste.
The authorities have proposed that the 9MW energy up to 10MW can be produced from waste on Jalan Tajpur.
The city produces almost 1,100 to 1,200 tons of garbage from households every day.
Officials claim that with this much garbage, they can produce at least 6MW of energy, but in their proposals have made provisions for more, given future projections in the future.
According to the proposal, wet waste will go for composting and dry will go for energy generation.
The House of Representatives consists of two parts – one is bringing garbage from the secondary collection points to the main dump and the second is waste processing into energy.
As far as regarding the collection of garbage doors to the door, the Civic body plans to implement the Chandigarh model and the garbage will be appointed via e-rickshaw.
While providing information about the solid waste management plant, the commissioner with Ankur Mahindroo said, “Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has an agreement with the state government to buy electricity produced through these steps, so we will also be able to sell.
Energy is generated Through waste.
“He said there were some differences between the costs paid by the PSPCL and the cost in the energy generation, but now the MC house has agreed to bear the difference.
Commissioner MC Pardeep Sabharwal said, “We are ready with the DPR and will now go for approval from the government after that the tender will float.” He said the factory would be installed at Tajpur Road Dump, because there was room there.
In particular, since February 4, waste processing was stopped at Tajpur Dump after MC had stopped the agreement with the A2Z waste management company and since then waste was stacked in a dump.
5 Metric tons of inheritance waste for processed Civic’s body will also begin processing legacy waste lying in dumps for years now.
In the survey conducted by the Civic Agency, it was revealed that around 22 metric tons of legacy waste lying there.
Initially, 5 metric tons would be treated through bioremediation and the rest would be cleaned in a phase if found successfully.
