Ludhiana: MC’s house has resisted the resolution to take over 18 colonies and schemes of Greater Ludhiana Development Authority (GLADA) for maintenance and development purposes at the General House MC meeting on Tuesday.
The proposal was dropped when several board members, representing these areas, demanded for the same thing while saying that Gladada had funds for development work and would be better if the MC did not take over this colony as it is now.
Congress Council member Vineet Bhatia and Umesh Sharma said, “We are unable to bring these colonies under MC’s jurisdiction because most of the time, Civic’s body without funds but the reverse Gladada has enough funds for the same thing.” They said they did not get funds from Civic’s body in the past too.
However, the Mayor of Balarn Sandhu, said if Board members objected to the proposal, they could not move forward with the same.

The MC and Gladada technical team conducted a survey in the colony to check what type of basic facility was absent in these colonies.
Officials claimed that several street lights, roads, bridges and other works were waiting in these colonies and about RS 21 Crores would be spent on work.
