MCC in the dark: the intersection in the city is named after Parashurama

Mangaluru: Monaming or changing the name of the intersection or road in the city often requires protracted bureaucratic procedures, which often take months.
However, the intersection in Jeppu near the Mangaladevi Temple was named after Hindu God of Parahurama, a decision taken was not by PKS officials, but the population.
Around Mangaluru Smart City Ltd.
(MSCL) is developing roads, sidewalks and circles around Mangaladevi Temple, a banner was founded by residents, stating the name ‘Parashurama Vrittha’, before Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) can be intentional about this problem, and adopt a resolution for that effect.
MSCL has carried out various development projects in the old Kent Road environment, Jalan Temple of Pandeshwar, Jalan Temple of Mangaladevi, among others – the cumulative cost initiative estimated at around Rs 40 Crore.
This is not the first example of a person who set up a banner that shows the name of the choice they will have for the path or intersection.
A few months ago, a banner was installed on the Pumpwell Flyover bearing the name ‘Veer Savarkar Flyover’, but it was deleted later.
Other banners later appeared at the Mangaluru Junction train station, which matched the leaflet wanted ‘Veer Savarkar Railway Station, Mangaluru’.
Mangaluru Mayor Premanand Shetty told TI that MCC had not intentionally named the addition of the intersection in Jeppu.
“I have noticed a banner stating that the intersection is ‘Parashurama Vrittha’, but the MCC did not make a proposal to rename the place.
Unidentified people have put banners without the knowledge of the authorities who first happened.
Every proposal must be discussed first In the MCC board, and the resolution is adopted with that effect, “Shetty added.
He showed that the MCC Board had submitted a proposal to the government who wanted to rename Lady Hill Circle after Sri Narayana Teacher’s social reformer.
“But we have adopted a resolution to mention the road to the Mangaladevi Temple after the temple.
We have also sent this to the MCC City Planning Committee too.
PKS will issue proposals in the newspaper that invites objections and suggestions from the public.
That proposal will be discussed next time after Public consultations are held before being handed over to the government, “said Mayor.
