Mangaluru: To keep the National Highway-66 stretch in the net of the city, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has planned to hold a placard campaign in relations with NGOs and students.
The volunteer team consisting of PKS officials, NGOs and students will stand near black spots, where riders dispose of garbage on the edge of the NH-66, to create awareness of cleanliness.
PKS has formed a dedicated worker team to carry out special drives regularly.
The team consisting of officials and gang workers has waste clearing from both sides of the NH-66 in the city.
This initiative began following complaints from the community about riders throwing garbage on the roadside.
PKS Zonal Commissioner Shabarinath Rai told TII that it would be difficult to punish motorists who were garbage national highway.
“It’s hard to trace the vehicle from which waste thrown on the side of the highway.
Therefore, we plan to launch drive consciousness on national highways, involving students and NGOs to keep the roadside clean.
We will identify black dots on a stretch where the drive awareness will be held.
Volunteers with placards and banners will ask motorists not to highway garbage.
A similar campaign organized by activists and students on national highways near the Nethravathi River has recently had a good impact.
As soon as the Christmas holidays, we will launch the drive after holding discussions with students and NGOs, “he said.
