MCC to intensify steps to control the threat of wild dogs

MySuru: Following complaints from the public, Mysuru City Corporation has decided to intensify the anti-rabies (ARC) vaccination program and animal birth control to control the population of wild dogs in all 65 wards.
Authorities decided to travel after they began receiving many complaints about the threat of wild dogs.
Because of the pressure of the population, the environmental corporator also urges the MCC health department, which handles birth control and sterilization programs, to take steps to control the problem.
The Civic Agency received complaints on the threat of wild dogs from Rajiv Nagar, Kesare, NR Mohalla and its surroundings.
According to health officials, several Canestators who have no knowledge of legal complications and the command of the Supreme Court have demanded that officials arrest wild dogs in their environment and free them in forest areas.
However, the authorities after shedding of light on legal issues have assured to take encouragement to conduct birth control programs intensively.
MCC is conducting ABC and ARC programs through NGOs for Animals (PFA) and their brother organizations to reach animals (Rota) involved in sponsoring and steriling street dogs throughout Mysore.
More than 8,000 wild dogs have been bathed by NGOs.
Senior Health Officer MCC DG Nagaraj told TI that because it was a season of breeding, wild dogs found in the area will be found more aggressive.
“NGOs are doing a very good job in doing ABC and Arc programs.
We received more complaints on the problem of wild dogs from NR Mohalla.
Because there are more stalls and non-vegetarian hotels in the area, there are more wild dogs,” he said.
Nagaraj said a meeting led by Commissioners with all health officials and representatives from NGOs was set on Thursday where the problem would be discussed.
Resident JP Nagar Kathyayini told TII that recently residents complained about the threat of wild dogs in their territory to MCC.
“Immediately the Civic staff visited locality and arrested aggressive wild dogs.
After vaccination, the dogs were released back to the area,” he said.
