MCC warns of actions against the bulk waste generator

Mangaluru: The authorities of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) have directed all mass waste generators to start composting wet waste in advance before October 31.
It has also warned to conclude offenders from November 1.
Commissioner MCC Akshy Sridhar said several companies have failed to comply with the guidelines in accordance with the Rules of Solid Waste Management (SWM) -2016 and the MCC solid waste budget.
“In accordance with the SWM regulations and MCC household budgets, apartments and companies (hotels, hospitals, cottages, wedding rooms, catering, and the like) with more than 30 households have been mandated to build composting units in place and process waste on sources.
Some notifications regarding the same thing have been spent for all bulk solid waste generators.
However, the instructions have received less responses.
At present, the Karnataka High Court hears a direct petition in SWM by MCC.
Government questions are ongoing in progress made in implementing steps SWM step by the Civic Agency, “Commissioner said.
The apartment that failed to comply with the rules must be deposited by Rs 15 per flat at the beginning of the month.
Fine receipts must be submitted to sanitation workers before handing over solid waste.
This will be followed by a fine of Rs 25 per flat in the second month.
