Gurgaon: MCG commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja on Wednesday said he would hold monthly meetings with the councillors of each zone to address the public grievances raised by them.
The meetings will be held on the fourth Tuesday of every month as per the schedule set by the commissioner.
“It is observed that there is an urgent need to improve functioning in MCG.
Also, there is a dire need for a better delivery of civic services to the residents.
The general public does not have a suitable platform for speedy redressal of their grievances, except approaching the ward councillor.
Therefore, in order to hear and redress their grievances, it is necessary to have a monthly meeting with an elected representative of the ward (councillor),” stated the order issued by the MCG chief.
“The meetings will be held at the MCG’s Sector 34 office and as per the order, meeting with the councillors of zone-1 will be held from 11am to 12pm, zone-2 from 12.15pm to 1.15pm, with zone-3 councillors from 3pm to 4pm and with zone-4 councillors from 4:15pm to 5:15pm.
The chief engineer, additional commissioner and joint commissioner of the concerned zone will also attend the meeting,” an official said.
Councillors have welcomed the move, saying this will help them sort out their issues in the ward.
“We used to meet the commissioner during the House meetings and discuss residents’ grievances, but now we know there will be a fixed monthly meeting where we can take up certain issues and convey the public grievances,” said Kuldeep Yadav, councillor of ward number 29.
