Turugram: Corporation of the City of Gurugram (MCG) has established four horticultural composting sites to make compost waste collected from the garden and green belt.
Horticulture composting pits have been formed in the Palam Vihar C2 block, Green Belt in Sector 15 Part-1, Taman Sector 44 and Basai.
The Civic body will now ensure that each park has a composting hole so horticultural waste is processed there.
“We have started processing horticultural waste at four sites.
The Commissioner has also directed Horticulture officials to ensure that all parks in the city get a composting hole.
Horticulture officials will also publish written directions to the Environmental Committee and Rwas maintain their respective parks,” a spokesman said MCG SS Rohilla.
Residents say that managing horticultural waste is difficult, especially during the fall, and when the trees are trimmed.
They add that horticultural waste is sometimes thrown on the road because it is not processed.
Some residents also say that composting holes in each park tend to be feasible, considering the space occupied these holes.
“Composting of horticultural waste into dirt requires a lot of time in the hole.
There are new machines available now which ensures fast conversion of horticulture into manure.
MCG can buy these machines, which come in various sizes, and can change waste into fertilizers in minimum time .
Changing the hole with the machine will also be useful because the hole occupies a lot of space and many residents do not support the same because our park already has limited space, “said Udaybir Yadav, President of Sector 10a Rwa.
He added that some parts of the park maintenance funds can be transferred to get the machine.
“McG pays Rs 3 per square meter for garden maintenance, it can keep at least Rs 1 per square meter to get equipment for faster horticultural waste processing,” Yadav said.
