Gurgaon: The corporation of the city of Gurgaon (MCG) has decided to attract water bills issued in the area and the housing community where the Civic body does not supply water.
In many cases, MCG has issued increased water bills for the wrong period.
For example, if a society is taken over by the Civic body in, say, 2020, it has issued a bill from 2019.
The move came as a great relief for hundreds of residents who had complained about the wrong bill, showing that they had paid maintenance costs to their developers to supply water.
The decision to pull the bill was taken at a meeting chaired by Commissioner MCG Mukesh Kumar Ahuja and was attended by members of the Zone 2 and 4 council on Tuesday.
MCG officials said water bills were issued based on property tax collection data, which is why the names of the population where the Civic body still has not taken over maintenance in the list.
Residents of Sushant Lok 2 and 3, who pay maintenance costs to private developers, also issued a MCG water bill.
“Board members are directed to submit a list of areas in each ward where MCG does not supply water.
The list will be consolidated and people in the area will not be issued water bills again.
In addition, there are several areas in the city where water meters are installed But the bill was not distributed based on reading.
It was decided at a meeting that this problem would also be resolved soon, “said Ravinder Yadav, a member of the Environmental Number Board 3.
Residents sighed relieved.
“MCG took over Suncity in April 2019 but the recently released water bill for us came from January 2019.
We are happy that the corporation has decided to repair the wrong water bill.
However, we want the water meter to be installed so that the bill is issued based on consumption , “said VK Singh, a resident of the sun.
A senior MCG official said, “People who issue the wrong water bill do not pay MCG.
They have paid private developers.
However, the new direction will overhaul the entire system and water bills will now be issued after the right verification.” At the MCG meeting on Tuesday, another problem such as empty plots of HSVP was converted into dumpyards, also discussed.
