Letter: Three residents of Jamnagar were arrested with 58.36 grams of MD medicine or ecstasy worth Rs 5.83 lakh near Vaghaldhara on the National Highway 48 on Tuesday during a regular vehicle check.
The defendant had bought drugs from Mumbai and took him to Jamnagar to sell, police said.
Dungri Police also arrested Majid Darjida Makrani (65) Jamnagar, Shahjaha Baloch (27) and Rijwan Dochki (32) and ordered it under various parts of narcotics and business psychotropic substances.
“Dochhki is an addict and needs medication regularly.
When his health began to deteriorate, the police made him accepted in the hospital and are currently under treatment,” said J Rajput, police sub-investiture, Dungri police station.
Case investigations have been transferred to a special operating group.
So far, the police have learned that the defendant had planned to sell small amounts of drugs.
Police are now probing if Dochhki and the others have traveled to Mumbai before for drugs.
The Dochhki family is in the garment business in Jamnagar and often visits Mumbai and Valsad for business.
In the past too, Dochhki was arrested for theft.
“Dochhki has a good financial background and it seems like he starts selling drugs to make money quickly to feed his addiction,” police said.
