Secunderabad: While attempts to fight Covid-19 – through tests and drive vaccination – have seen the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) official working hard, just as impossible about the Board’s efforts to improve other health care areas.
The board even released a notification for permanent doctor’s recruitment after a pandemic.
Consider this: While the Pantonment General Hospital in Bolarum has a gynecologist, the hospital does not have a dedicated maternity ward or even a workspace.
As a result, women from the Cantonment area who expect to go to the company’s hospital or to Gandhi or Osmania General Hospitals.
“When a specialist is not available at Pantonment General Hospital, many patients are referred to a company hospital,” SCB officials admitted.
Likewise, a 1.1 lakh population near Rasoolpura – one of the largest slums in this country – depends on the Basti Dawakhana service.
Pantonment does have a pharmacy – in picked up, trimulithry and bowenpally – but this facility was built during the English era and is now lacking in infrastructure and labor.
Dispensaries barely have enough seating facilities with some patients seen standing in a queue outside the doctor’s room.
Meanwhile, the urban health center in Bowenpally, Picket, Bolarum, Rasoolpura, and the Balamrai served an average of 70 to 80 patients every day.
While the dispensaries are managed by SCB, the medical staff there have been used by the Department of Medical and Health of Telangana.
“The Cantonment Board has a fairly empty land so why can’t improve medical services by developing infrastructure and opening more pharmacies,” asking V Ramesh Kumar, a retired medical department of the official and residents of Bowenpally.
Talking about this problem, medical supervisors at the Cantonment General Hospital, Dr.
Ramakrishna, told TII, “We have three ambulances, including 108-ambulance, which is sufficient to meet the needs within the Canton.
OPD and maternity services will also be temporarily started by recruitment Permanent doctors and medical staff are in process.
In a month, hospitals will work at the company’s hospital level.
