Medical Research Collaboration: RMRI & NMCH Ink Pact

Patna: Director of the Rajendra Memorial Research Institute of Medical Sciences (RMRI), Dr.
Krishna Pandey, and Superintendent Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), Dr.
Binod Kumar Singh, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for medical research collaboration on Friday.
According to sources, collaboration will help in the progress of research to various diseases and drug responses in accordance with the Guidelines for the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR) and Medicinal Controller General India (DCGI).
Dr.
Pandey said, “While RMRI, as a large center of ICMR, has extensive expertise and advanced research laboratories and investigations, NMCH, with clinical facilities and inpatient facilities with a total of 850 beds, seeing high volume of ordinary patients with various diseases.” At present, RMRI is focused on research on Azar, post-kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis, HIV, and TB.
This collaboration will allow for exploration of new fields of clinical research, subject to ICMR approval.
Dr.
Singh stated that the topographic effect on the occurrence or recurrence of disease, immunity levels in different patients, and local diseases or specific seasons provide a variety of subjects for research in the field of medicine in Bihar.
“The recognized RMRI Ethics Committee, and its affiliates with DCGI, will benefit the NMCH faculty and students who conduct research,” he added.
Dr.
Satish Kumar, Deputy Supervisor of NMC, also showed that the collaboration would allow doctors and graduate students to conduct research with experts on topics related to human health.
He continued, “Because we have a clinical record of around 1,700 Covid patients claiming to nmch during the first and second wave, our faculty members will conduct research on Coronavirus in collaboration with RMRI experts.”
