Thane: Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) on Sundays fired a medical professional hired to oversee the covid center function and vaccination process at the Mumbra after the vaccine cache under the supervision of ‘smuggling’ to a private clinic, officials said.
Mayor Naresh Mhaske said professionals, employed in June 2020 as a Covid contractual medical officer, was released from his term after the probe preliminary showed that the Covid-19 vaccine was intended for the Civic Vaccination Center found in a private clinic owned by a political official.
“We will investigate whether there is a misuse of the previous vaccine at the facility,” added Mhaske.
A senior officer from the TMC Health Department, provided anonymously, “after we were told about illegal vaccination camps carried out at the hair transplant clinic, we rushed to the place.
