Nashik: Medication worth Rs 3.47 Crore has been confiscated in the Nashik Division – consisting of the Nashik Rural Police Unit, Ahmednagar, Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar – for the past two months.
Drugs are mostly confiscated when transported through districts under the Nashik Division and a total of 21 cases have been registered.
Dig (Nashik Division) BG Shekhar Patil, who took over two months ago, said, “Immediately after taking over the head of all the police units below I was ordered to take efforts to make drug-free distribution.

“Drugs that have been confiscated include more than 5,000 kg of marijuana worth Rs 3.38 Crore, 500 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 7.50 lakh and 481 grams of Charas worth Rs 1.44 lakh.
Police from five divisions have also won trucks, cars, motorbikes, cellphones, and other articles, taking the total amount of drugs and other confiscated articles to Rs 3.71 Crore.
Over the past two months, three cases have been registered by police Nashik Rural, three by police Nandurbar, 10 by Dhule police and five by police Nandurbar.
Shekhar Patil said not all drugs were intended for consumption in the division, but headed to other parts of the state through the Nashik Division Highway.
“Transporter uses various interior routes to avoid police checks.
However, with the help of information, the police made the vehicle regarding being intercepted,” he said.
In 21 cases, the police had arrested 24 people while 14 others managed to escape from the scene.
