Thane: Roshni Iyer, a 23-year-old Thane resident, has made its city proudly assigned as a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force.
He is said to be among 15 female fighter pilots in strength, said source.
Iyer dreams of presenting a nation since a very young age.
He aspires to become a combat pilot and always focus on his studies to achieve its goals with good academic records.
Iyer said, “Being part of the Indian Air Force is a way of life.
This is not just about being a pilot but a bigger motto is life to and serve the nation.” His father, Ravi Iyer, told Toi: “We are proud of him and I feel all Children must pursue their desires.
We also support it and want to see it to serve the nation.
“Iyer was inspired by the former president late Dr.
Apj Abdul Kalam, who was a aerospace scientist.
Following his graduation at Aerospace Engineering, he was treated at the Air Force Academy through AFCAT.
He practiced for one and a half years at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal, Telangana, said source.
Learned that Iyer did his school from Puram’s Puram Public School, Thane, and was a national level athlete, after representing Maharashtra on the obstacles of 400 meters, and also won the country’s gold medal, said the source.
Not only athletics, Iyer has pursued other diverse hobbies such as reading, trekking and painting with watercolor and oil pastels on canvas too.
Thane, called the city of the lake, can now be proudly known for producing pilots for the Indian Air Force, said local residents.
Together with Iyer, there were two male pilots from this year’s Thane official school who flew 24 years, Gautam (Fighters) and Jordan Sequeira (helicopter) were 22 years old, said the source.
The first three women assigned as a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force were Lieutenant Avani Chaturvedi flights, Lieutenant Flights Bhawana Kant and Lieutenant Flight Mohana Singh, in 2016.
