Kolkata: The city and neighboring districts can receive a light spell to moderate rain on Sundays and Mondays under the impact of Western Disorders (WD).
Some areas inside and around the city are set to receive meadow storms too, the Met Office said.
It also estimates that the temperature will remain unchanged until January 26.
Kolkata records a minimum temperature of 17.4 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
“We expect weather conditions to remain listening to the drizzle spell on Sundays and Mondays.
Along with Kolkata, Howrat, North Korea and South Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Nadia, Murshidabad, and West Burdwan, can accept drizzle,” said An official meets.
A south-south low pressure between Bihar and Chhattisgarh and another that stretches between Rajasthan and Bengal will be formed for the next 24 hours as a western disorder approach.
This will produce clouds and cause light drizzle in the city.
“But the rain will be limited to 20 mm-30 mm in Kolkata and can occur on Sundays and Mondays,” said Director of the Regional Meteorology Center (RMC) GK DAS.
“It will remain cloudy and the intermittent rain will continue on Monday.
We hope the weather will improve from the second half of Monday.
But sporadic drizzle may still occur,” said the watershed.
“We hope the temperature falls after January 26 when the effects of Western disorders begin to decrease.
But because we are approaching the end of winter, the temperature decline may not be very significant,” he added.
Until then, the difference between the maximum and the minimum temperature will narrow into two-three degrees.
General Western disorders in winter and they lead to rain and temperature increases, said watershed.
This is the third chance of this winter when WD has caused rain and a temperature increase in Kolkata and South Bengal.
