Meghalaya accident dead mount to 8

Shillong: Rescuers restored the body of two missing men from the river on Friday, took the death toll in a bus accident in the Eighth Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, an official said.
The Meghalaya Transport Corporation Bus, traveling from Tura in the Bukit Barat Bukit district to Capital State Shillong, broke the bridge fence and plunged into the Ringdi River in Nongchram in early morning.
Six bodies were found on Thursday while 16 others were injured.
“The state disaster response team (SDRF) restored the first body around 9am and the second body in the afternoon.
The victim was now eight,” said the SDRF statement.

Search operations have been continued this morning for the two men.
After the two bodies were found on Friday, the operation was canceled, said Srf.
Nine passengers from Tura and 12 of Williamnagar, Bukit Garo Timur district headquarters, have taken the bus.
Wounded people underwent treatment at the hospital.
