Mumbai: In the Unilever new organizational model that focuses on the category of the region, Sanjiv Mehta maintains its executive leadership about Hindustan Unilever (Hul) along with its role in Unilever’s leadership executive.
Mehta also continues as President – South Asia, because India is among the three main priority markets for Unilever, and Hul is an entity that is registered.
On Tuesday, Unilever said he would move from the current matrix structure and would be held around five different business groups – beauty & well-being, personal care, home care, nutrition, and ice cream.
Each business group will be fully responsible and responsible for their global strategy, growth and profits.
Because the focus moves away from the area, the need to COO with P & L’s responsibilities for all markets – post made in 2011 with Harish Manwani as the first coo – now becomes excessive.
Nitin Paranjpe, who is currently COO Unilever, will take a new role as the Chief Transformation Officer and Chief People Officer, where it will lead business transformation and head of HR function.
Leena Nair, who previously led people functioning as Chro Unilever, proceeded to lead Chanel as CEO.
In a statement, UNILEVER CEO Alan Jope said, “Our new organizational model has been developed over the past year and is designed to continue the steps we see in our business performance.
Moving to five business groups that focus on the category will enable us to be more responsive against consumer trends and channels, with clear crystal accountability for shipping.

The proposed new organizational model will result in a reduction in senior management roles of around 15% and more junior management roles of 5%, equivalent to around 1,500 roles globally.
Jope recently draws some leaves from parts of investors who feel Unilever focus more on purpose and less than profits.
Jope also received criticism for repeated efforts to acquire the GSK Consumer Division.
In new settings, which is effective April 1 this year, Fernando Fernandez, EVP – Latin America, has been appointed as President – Beauty & Welfare.
Fabian Garcia, President – North America, has been appointed as President – Personal Care.
Peter Ter Kulve will continue his role as president – home care.
Hanneke Faber, President – Food & Refresher, has been appointed as President – Nutrition, while Matt Close, EVP – ES Cream, has been appointed as president – ice cream.
Reginaldo Ecclisato, Chief Supply Chain Officer, will lead Unilever’s business supply and operation chain as Chief Business Operations Officer.
