NEW DELHI: A magistrate court in Dominica on Thursday moved businessman Mehul Choksi in police custody into a state jail, his own attorney in India explained, but added he would continue to stay in hospital because his medical illness”dropped”.
“Yes(Choksi’s) authorities exemption was shifted to prison prosecution but he will stay in hospital because his health condition has slowed,” attorney Vijay Aggarwal explained.
His legal team had filed a medical certification from physicians in the Dominica China Friendship Hospital, in which Choksi is experiencing therapy, of”psychological strain” and increased blood pressure.
The modification in custody has been viewed as a ray of hope for India that has approached the Dominica High Court trying to be impleaded as a party in the case filed by attorneys of Choksi whose bond statute was previously revoked.
