BENGALURU: The Karnataka government on Wednesday rather than the setup of the joint select committee from the Chennai established National Green Tribunal (NGT) southern chair to inspect the contentious Mekedatu reconciliation reservoir project suggested across the river Cauvery. Talking to the press in Bengaluru, legislation and parliamentary affairs minister Basavaraj Bommai stated the government will soon be launching a legal struggle against the NGT conclusion to set up a suo moto committee to scrutinize the Mekedatu job that’s included in the authority of Karnataka state. “The choice of this NGT to establish a committee to research the Mekedatu construction website and if it’ll negatively affect the surrounding environment is really a suo moto choice without consulting anybody and not according to any official criticism. It’s founded on a record in a daily paper. The Karnataka government will soon be launching a legal struggle in this respect following consulting legal luminaries,” explained Bommai. Bommai reported the situation pertaining to this Mekedatu job is already pending in the Supreme Court and the job has been constructed inside the jurisdiction of this nation. “If the situation is pending in the SC, how legitimate is it for NGT to start its own analysis? Could it be legally legitimate? All these are questions that have to be answered,” he explained. The ministry said that a top level meeting with all the water resources law and department department aside from the urge general is going to be held alongside CM B Yediyurappa on Thursday.
