Trichy: The Tamil Nadu BJP unit will stand in the state government in the problem of the Dam Mekedatu for the best interests of the farmers, the newly appointed country president from K Annamalai said on Thursday.
“We are very clear about our attitude on the problem of Mekedatu, and we don’t want to do politics on it,” he said in Trichy on his way to Chennai where he would take the office on Friday.
“Even though Karnataka is a country ruled by BJP, Tamil Nadu BJP is for Tamil Nadu and it will work for the benefit of people from the state and farmers,” he said.
“Our stand is very clear in terms of Mekedatu’s problem.
Tamil Nadu farmers may not face problems and the state must get its share of Cauvery water as stipulated by the Supreme Court,” he said.
Asked whether he would play a role in resolving the problem by meeting with the Chairman of the Karnataka Minister B Yediyurappa, Annamalai emphasized the collective steps by all parties to bring a solution.
He said two leaders of his senior party had taken part in the All-Party Meeting held by the state government and they would support the state government on his decision about the problem of Mekedatu.
BJP leaders Tamil Nadu will be part of the All-Party delegation who will meet with the Union Jal Minister Shakti Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Mekedatu’s problem.
Previously, Annamalai Garlanded Statue of the Former Chairman of Minister K Kamaraj near Trichy Central Bus Stand, on the 118th birthday of the leader.
