On July 29, Tawde called the contractor in WhatsApp and asked him to come to his office.
He then bought the voice recording watch he was wearing and went to the office where Tawde himself negotiated the number to Rs 6 lakh and told him that he would take back complaints.
The complainant alleged that Tawde even threatened that if he complained about the demand for politicians or TMC authorities, his life would be in danger.
The complainant added that he had a recording conversation of RS 1 Lakh promised to be paid to Tawde.
On July 30, after the unrelenting demands, the contractor approached the crime-1 branch unit and complained to them, after which the case was registered at the Rabodi police station, the police said further investigation was underway, while Tawde could not be reached for his comments.
