Mumbai: To stand the death certification in this country, the Tata Memorial Center (TMC) in Parel launched an electronic course for doctors by filling in the death certificate.
Death certificates need to be completed as the International Classification Code of the World Health Organization (ICD 10), with every code relating to a purpose.
Death certification is not done scientifically in parts of the country, encouraging TMC, BMC and the State, with the US Disease Control Center, to develop electronic training.
Dr.
Rajesh Dikshit and Dr.
Pankajus Chatijedi said, “We study dead people to help life.
We need a cause of good quality death data to do this.” During a covid pandemic, health data continues to be assessed to measure the burden of the disease.
“This is a commendable effort to train doctors to the right method to complete medical certification causes of death.
This will enhance the doctor’s understanding and skills, which will, in turn, improve the quality of the cause of death data for decision making,” said TMC Director Dr.
Rajendra Badwe.
