Mangaluru: Moodabidri police arrested Dinraj Poojary, 34, from Daregudde, on charges of killing his wife on Wednesday.
It was lowned that the defendant was under the influence of alcohol when he killed him.
He married Sunita Poojary, 30, about 18 months ago.
The source said that the victim suffered a painful injury on his head, after he was allegedly beaten by his husband with Alu like a weapon, and was rushed to a private hospital before being shifted to the Wenlock District Hospital, where he was declared dead.
The defendant worked for a battery store and suspected his wife.
Kasing under the IPC 302 section (murder) has been registered.
