Men cycle 4.500km from Kerala to Ladakh

Thrissur: On Saturday, with Sky Darkening Himalayas and the first snowflake floated, Jose had reached an unforgettable milestone in his life.
He was only 80, and finished cycling 4,500 km away from the thrissur to a rough height that was rare.
What a better way for a man who is a plumber by the profession and cyclist with a desire to celebrate his birthday.
Josettan, because he loved his friends, came from Athani in Thrissur.
He told Tii by telephone from Leh that he had cycled to the place only 34 km from Khardung La, which is located at an altitude of 17,600 feet above sea level and is the highest motorized point that is permitted for civilians.
He could not go further on Saturday from there because of unexpected snow.
In this expedition cycle, the ‘Wheel of Life’ is standardized, Jose accompanied by Gokul P from Ayyanthole in Thrissur, which, by chance, has traveled cycling from Thrissur to Khardung LA in 2013 through Manali.
Gokul’s wife Dr.
Lekha Lakshmi and their 14-year-old daughter joined them from Ladakh after reaching there with flight.
Jose, who retired from the Medical College Thrissur Hospital as a plumber, said he did not have a big health problem during a cycling trip.
“I had oxygen problems when I reached about nine days ago, but my fellow bicycle riders supported me by providing artificial oxygen supplies,” he said.
“The lack of oxygen is a problem commonly encountered by everyone, including military personnel, to reach Leh,” said Dr.
Lakshmi.
Jose said he began cycling when he was in class V.
“Cycling is my desire, and I used to cycle long distance in the past.
But this is clearly the longest cycling trip I have done,” he said.
He is also a regular participant in swimming and marathon competitions.
Jose has won awards to excel in triathlon competition too.
The Wheel of Life, which was marked by the former Minister of Education Kerala Prof.
C Raveendranath from Thrissur on July 15, was supported by all Kerala cycle clubs, also Sai, Thrissur District Sports Council, Olympic Association Thrissur, Nehru Yuva Kendra.
Sangatan and Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs.
Jose’s wife and three children were very happy about their achievements but also a little worried about her safety.
Gokul’s cousin, Ajayan, is Brigadier in the Indian Army, and through it they get extensive support from the military to pass through high security and difficult terrain.
