New Delhi: The 28-year-old Delhi resident held his own abduction to squeeze Rs 25 Lakh from his parents to pay off his debt and hide in Rishikesh Uttarakhand, police said on Friday.
The man worked as a supervisor at a company based in Panipat and established a relationship with the wife of a colleague, which was also part of a conspiracy, they said.
On June 29, Vihar’s secure police station was informed by the man’s father that he had gone to attend a party in Rohini on June 25 and lost since then, a senior officer said.
During the preliminary investigation, it came out that the man was last seen in Rohini Sector 22 at an Oyo hotel.
The case was registered below section 365 (kidnapping or kidnapping with a purpose quietly and wrongly to limit people) from the Indian criminal code, said Pranaav Tayal, deputy commissioner of the police (Rohini).
“During the investigation, it was still studied that a woman contacted the victim’s parents on June 28 and stated that their son was in a debt trap and he needed Rs 25 Lakh immediately to resolve his debt.
He also gave five different number of people in the amount stored,” he said.
The woman was tracked in a village near the Tundala, Agra, and during questionable, she revealed that the man was in Rishikesh and he constantly touched him, the officer said.
Team three members consisting of Sub Inspector Manish and ASI Naveen rushed to Rishikesh from where the man was brought to Delhi on Thursday, he said.
