PATIALA: A 23-year-old man farmer has been arrested for allegedly hugging idols at Devi Temple Temple in Punjab’s Patiala.
Rajdeep from Nain Village Kalan has been sent in police custody for seven days.
The incident occurred at 14:10 on Monday when the defendant jumped over the steel fence and hugged an idol.
The defendant was immediately controlled by Pandit.
The day after controversy, various politicians visited the temple and condemned the incident, in addition to seeking exemplary punishment for the defendant involved in cases of other dijab sufferers in Punjab.

The defendant has been ordered under the relevant parts of the IPC, including hurting religious sentiments, and placed under the arrest for further interrogation.
The police said the motives were not confirmed.
