Thiruvananthapuram: The fast track court for cases related to sexual crimes against women and children here on Wednesday was sentenced to a man for 20 years in prison after he was found guilty of rape a 16-year-old girl.
Arun aka Gundu Arun from Barton Hill Colony, History-Sheeter with more than 20 cases, including murder, was the defendant in this case.
The sentence was conveyed by the Fast Line Judge R Jayakrishnan who also imposed an 88,000 RS penalty in Arun.
Failure to send penalties will produce an extension of a sentence of up to 30 months.
Crimes related to the case took place on May 1, 2019.
The defendant visited the victim’s house when his parents were not present and dragged him to the warehouse behind the house and committed a crime.
He even attacked the 15-year-old girl’s sister when she was trying to save her sister.
After this the boy ran to the neighbors who saw help, but the defendant escaped from home to a neighbor’s approach.
The girl was traumatized by the experience that she locked her in the bathroom and refused to open the door even after the neighbors convinced her that it was safe to get out.
The accusation was then arrested by the Museum police.
Advocate R S Vijay Mohan, a special public prosecutor, said the defendant then attacked the girl’s father for filing a complaint.
He also threatened the key witness in this case.
The court gave a total of 33 years in prison for the defendants with various charges.
These include 20 years of hard prison under the Section of 6 Act Pocso and seven years of RI under Section 9 (N) and 10 Pocso Law.
Other costs faced faced were criminal violations and confinement that were wrong under the IPC, each of which he was given five years and one year in prison.
All sentences can be served simultaneously, the judge is held.
