Men squeezed to return the phone stolen

Letter: Police arrested two people from the Katargam area on Saturday because of their alleged involvement in moped theft and cellphones.
One of the previous defendants stole a telephone from income tax officials and on Wednesday, he extorted Rs 25,000 to restore the victim of the stolen device.
The police arrested Aslam Shaikh (24) and Iliyas Pathan (42) from near the Circle of Gajera in Katargam for stealing moped.
During interrogation, Shaikh claimed to have taken a cellphone worth 10,000 from Ankush Singh, an official I-T.
The police confiscated a moped accused of being stolen from Amroli.
Shaikh won the telephone from Singh from outside Aaykar Bhavan, I-T main office in the city, near the Majura gate on Wednesday.
Then, when Singh called the phone was answered by Shaikh.
Singh asked Shaikh to restore his phone which he claimed important because it was his office telephone.
Shaikh agreed to return and ask Singh to approach Kinnary Talkies on the ring road.
When Singh reached there, Shaikh crossed the knife and demanded Rs 50,000 from Singh.
The victim said he did not have that much money with him and arranged for Rs 25,000.
The accusation returned the phone and escaped with the money.
Shailkh accused of being used to operate the Kiosk of Paan and have been arrested several times in the past for theft.
He was released from prison in August after being arrested for cellphone theft.
