Mangaluru: Mangalore South Polda has arrested six people allegedly suspected of torturing workers in the old port of Mangaluru (DAKKE), suspecting that he had stolen cellphones.
A video from the victim was hung upside down on a fishing boat and taken to the task by the defendant had become a viral.
City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said that the 34-year-old victim and defendant were Andhra-based workers.
The victim has been identified as Sheenu.
A senior officer said that the incident took place on December 15, but it was revealed on Wednesday.
The case has been registered under various parts of the Indian criminal code including part 143 147 148 323 324 307 364 342 506.
