Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy was sued by Cheshire Constabulary with four accusations of rape and a matter of sexual attack on Thursday, with the Premier League club suspended the investigation of the Frenchman.
The police added Mendey, 27, has been sent in detention and will appear in the Chester Magistrates Court on Friday.
“The cost of dealing with three complainants over the age of 16 and allegedly has occurred between October 2020 and August 2021,” Cheshire Contabulary said in a statement.
City said in a statement they would not make further comments because this problem is subject to the legal process.
Mendey, who has played for France 10 times and won the World Cup in 2018, was signed by City from US Moncao in 2017 at a cost of 52 million pounds ($ 71.32 million).
He has won the Premier League three times with City even though the injury has limited the time of playing, by returning to the left undergoing knee surgery in the 2018-19 season.
