Frankfurt: German Chancellor Angela Merkel promises quick financial assistance on Sunday after visiting one of the most severe areas affected by a record of floods that have killed at least 157 people in the country for the past few days.
“We are at your side,” said Merkel to the small town of Adenau in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, called the situation there “scary”.
He added that the short-term assistance program will be launched by the government on Wednesday.
