Mumbai: Commercial Operations in the first phase of the Metro 7 and 2A lanes are expected to begin from January 2022 against the previous time limit of October 2021.
The experiment runs for line 7 (Aarey to Dahisar), which runs along the highway and West Highway.

This week, MMRDA began the trial running on the 2A line between Charkop and Dahisar.

Srinivas Metropolitan Commissioner Srinivas said, “A team of research design and standard organizations (RDSO, Lucknow; serves as a technical advisor and consultant for the train) will start inspection next week.
Railway Safety Commissioner (CRS) can start checking line 7 on the month October.
“Mmrda will begin commercial operations in both corridors with 10 trains, the two have arrived.
Metro 2a is 17.5 km long, and Metro 7 is 18.6 km.
MMRDA said almost 80% of civil works for both lines had been completed and the system worked “was walking in a full swing”.
A senior MMRDA official said, “Working on stairs and escalators is still done at several stations.
Therefore, there are still a few months before commercial operations can begin.” Initially, MMRDA had set a December 2019 deadline to start service but the delay occurred, followed by Covid outbreak.
