Metro Line Potatoes Launched, 75K commuters to benefit

Bengaluru: After a delay of almost three years, an extension of 12.5 km from the Ungu Line Namma Metro – Mysore Road to Kengeri – was inaugurated on Sunday.
Commercial operations will begin on Monday, and commuters will be able to travel between byappanahalli and cengeri only with RS 56.
This is a 52-minute trip.
Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri and Chairman of the Minister of Basavaraj Bommai marked the escape of the Decked-Up Metro Train running in the new lane from Nayandahalli Station at 10:30 a.m.
However, the inauguration function was held at the Kengeri Bus Terminal Station.
Puri said that Metro services in Bengaluru had one of the best time timeliness – 99.8 percent.
“With this 7.5 km stretch, we will have 730 km of metro’s operations in 18 cities.
More than 1,050 Km Metro Rail or RRTS [regional highway transit system] is being built in various cities,” he said.
Namma Metro has a 56km operational network with 51 stations.
Cengeri stretches are expected to serve 75,000 commuters every day, especially those traveling to the University of Bangalore (Jnanabharathi campus), Global Village IT Park and RV College of Engineering.
There are six new stations outside the Mysuru Street Station: Nayandanahalli, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Jnanabharathi, Pattanagere, Kengeri and Metro Kengeri bus terminals.
“The tariff of byappanahalli to the cengeri will be RS 56 and for cengeri to the Silk Institute, the longest stretch, will be Rs 60,” said BMRCL on Sunday.
Traveling from Mysuru Road to Kengi will take 15 minutes.
With cengeri extensions, purple lines are now 25.6 km with 23 stations.
“Further extension of Kengli to Challaghatta is scheduled to be completed in March 2022,” said BMRCL.
Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, Union Housing and the Urban Ministry, celebrates the launch of Sunday and provides updates about ongoing work.
“The other 117km Metro network has been being built in Bengaluru.
Full 173km can operate in 2025, increasing the convenience of life,” he tweeted.
“This center has sanctioned more than Rs 55,000 Crore for the four phases of Development of Bengaluru Metro.
This will make it possible to reach-5 and reach-6 to be completed by 2025 and see a daily daily average increase of up to 17 lakh.”
