CIUDAD VICTORIA: Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador on Monday condemned a shooting spree he said had killed 14 innocent sufferers on the weekend at the crime-plagued border state of Tamaulipas.
“Everything suggests that it was not a confrontation” between rival gangs,” Lopez Obrador told reporters after the massacre on Saturday by gunmen travel in automobiles at town of Reynosa.
“It was a massive hit attack which took the lives of innocent folks,” he explained, adding he had taught the attorney general’s office to direct the investigation into the murders.
The attorney general’s office supported in a statement after Monday it had obtained over the event and an individual was detained during the strikes.
The person, who had been seized with”a very long weapon of exclusive usage of the Army,” will appear in front of a judge, ” the announcement said.
Five alleged perpetrators were murdered by the security forces, police said.
The victims included 19-year-old Fernando Ruiz Flores, who had been operating in the road to set up drainage along with his stepfather, his sister Olga Ruiz explained.
“Out of what my stepfather Jesus states they killed my brother in cold blood,” she told AFP by phone.
The gunmen came in pickup trucks and”like they took their weapons and began shooting,” she explained.
Reynosa, about the boundary with the United States, was contested by staggered turf wars between rival drug cartels in the last few decades.
It’s but one of the most violent places in a state where over 300,000 people are murdered because the authorities deployed the army in the war on drugs from 2006.
The majority of the killings are connected to fighting involving gangs, according to the government.
