New Delhi: MG Motor tends to drive in the middle SUV on Indian streets at the end of 2021, Head of India Rajeev Chaba confirmed.
SUVs tend to lock horns against rivals such as Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
The company expects SUV to a volume generator for the company.
It aims to grow around 70% this year with this new launch and improve the Covid situation.
This model will be a gasoline iteration of the company’s latest electric car, MG ZS.
This is likely to be one level below Mg Hector Plus.
The car was exhibited at the car show.
It is hoped that the design and arrangement of Astor will be similar to his colleague.
In fact, some changes will be introduced to distinguish them from their brothers.
MG Astor has undergone testing in India for a while and has been seen several times.
Rajeev Chaba, MG Motor India President and Managing Director said that the SUV launch was postponed by several weeks due to the second wave of Covid-19.
Car makers are targeting to move forward towards fully utilizing halol-based manufacturing facilities and to collect sales with future SUVs.
Malol facilities have installed capacity to launch around one lakh car per year.
“We need to see full use of hallol facilities.
Because of the pandemic, our volume has dropped so that our first priority is that the Halol factory is fully used in terms of capacity and profitability, Chaba added.
The SUV segment in India has increased in 29% of passenger vehicle sales in the year 2020 compared to 13.5% in 2015.
