NEW DELHI: The Centre on Thursday led states and Union territories to keep the continuing Covid-19 guidelines until June 30 and requested them to proceed for intensive and neighborhood containment steps in districts with a large number of instances to examine the spread of this fatal disease.
In a new arrangement, Union home secretary Ajay Bhalla said rigorous execution of containment and other steps has resulted in a declining tendency in the amount of active and new instances, across countries and union territories, barring several regions from the southern and northeastern areas.
“I’d love to highlight this in spite of this falling trend, the amount of active instances currently is still quite large.
It is, thus, significant that containment measures can continue to be applied rigorously.
“Any comfort by states and UTs, could be considered at a suitable moment, in a graded way, after analyzing the local position, resources and requirements,” Bhalla said in his order issued on primary secretaries of both states and union territories.
He explained the instructions issued April 29 for the month of May will last until June 30.
According to the principles, the house ministry advised the countries to take necessary actions to guarantee adequate oxygen-supported beds, ICU beds, ventilators, ambulances such as production of hospitals, air, as required, besides adequate quarantine facilities.
