Boston: Boston City member of the council Michelle Wu became the first woman and the person who had to choose the Mayor of Boston, after his opponent, another member of Annissa Essaibi George, conceded defeat in local media elections, according to local media reports.
Wu, a progressive Democrat who has a close relationship with US Senator Massachusetts Elizabeth Warren, campaigning about liberal policies such as police reform, rental control and new agreement for Boston.
Essaibi George, he himself a woman, presents himself as a more moderate and pragmatic choice.
The city only chose white people as a mayor for almost 200 years to Tuesday, even though the current mayor of acting, Kim Janey, who took over when the former Mayor of Marty Walsh joined the Biden government, was a black woman.
